April 16 - Pray for Maine!

Luke 11:5-9
Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.' "Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Thank you for joining the International Missions Society in our "month of prayer for missions." Today we are praying for the state of Maine, world famous for both its scenery and its seafood. Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it was admitted to the union under the Missouri Compromise. Click here for more information on Maine.

The church in Portland, Maine was planted in September 2010 with 12 disciples, and under the leadership of Glenn and Danielle Petruzzi the church has grown to nearly 70 disciples. To view today's video from Maine, click here. If you are looking for guidance in terms of what to pray for, here are some specific prayer requests from the Portland church:

1. Pray we can build the church wisely in such a way that the church can outlive the builders.
2. Pray that we can become self-supported as a church as soon as possible.
3. Pray that we can grow to a church of 100 disciples by the end of the year.
4. Pray for Mike and Kristen Balzer, who are preparing to move to Burlington, VT to lead the church there.
5. Pray that we can take care of the many young Christians we have and the many to come.

If you want to send a note of encouragement to the disciples in Maine, please reply to this email and we will pass on your message. Thanks!
