Not Even On the GPS! Mark 1:9-11 - At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Nazareth. Really? Nazareth!? Never mentioned in the Old Testament. Never mentioned in the Talmud. As our brother Nathaniel asked in another gospel, could anything good come out of Nazareth? The answer, of course, is "yes," and not just from Nazareth! Satan loves for us to feel insignificant. He loves for us to feel that we have nothing to offer and can't make a difference. This just isn't true. The world was changed from Nazareth. The world can be changed from Storrs, from Portland, from Springfield, from anywhere! How does a guy from Overland Park, Kansas wind up in Kiev?
God has significant plans for your life! The most important thing you can do is to continue what you are already doing--taking time to pray, and asking God to change the world one soul at a time, one city at a time, and one country at a time! You may be from Nazareth, but remember, so was your LORD! Pray for Athens! Athens is the capital of Greece, an amazing country and an amazing city. Our church there is in desperate need of support. Do you speak Greek? Do you have Greek relatives? Our church has decreased to 7. We need a full time minister to meet the needs. Please pray for God to open doors. Here is a request from one of the couples in Greece. Dear Family, We are honored and humbled to be prayed for in the presence of many saints. The Athens church has probably had our worst year ever, as not only have we decreased in number to 7, but also in commitment and evangelistic spirit. We need all your prayers for God's grace to fill us with gratitude to the point of repentance. Also, for the marrieds to find times of refreshment in their time with God. Finally, i would kindly ask for God to bring us a few VERY open souls to work with, so we can find some spiritual encouragement to keep us going. Just pray that "a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out."
