Moving In

Mark 1:8 - I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

Ok, get ready for the unbelievable. You need to sit down before you read this verse, or maybe you already fell over!

John's baptism was for the forgiveness of sins. Our baptism was for the forgiveness of sins as well. So what is the big difference? The most amazing thing that happened at your baptism was not just that your sins were forgiven, but that God moved into your heart!

The Holy Spirit who had taken up residence in the Holy of Holies, the Holy Spirit who had hovered over a shapeless and dark planet--with the coming of Jesus that same Holy Spirit is now a part of baptism!

budapest1John was teaching that Jesus' baptism was not just an outward recognition of a life change. It was more than that. Someone was going to come in to the inside, and not just for a visit. The Holy Spirit is at home inside of us!

Pray for Budapest!

Budapest is the capital of Hungary, a nation of 10 million souls. It is without bias the most beautiful city in Europe, with a lot of history and architecture. This weekend we are having Parliamentary elections, so there is something to pray for (1 Tim. 2:1-4).

The church in Budapest was planted 17 years ago and now has 132 members.  This year we've seen some great baptisms--a married couple (Gábor and Eszter) was baptized, and two students (Dóri and Enikő) were also baptized.

We have an exciting mix of students, singles, marrieds, families and elderly people in the church. budapest2We're learning how to love and serve God best in our life situations, and how to be fruitful in winning people for Christ.

We'd like to ask your prayers for the following:

  • To grow in our spirituality and zeal for God
  • To raise up new leaders
  • To see our first Kingdom Kid baptized
  • To see more entire families converted
  • To send out a mission team from Budapest
