On a beautiful summer day in August, most of the New England staff gathered in Canton, Massachusetts, for a time of sports, food, fellowship and family fun.  Organized by Wyndham and Jeannie Shaw and hosted by John and Carol McGuirk, the day included everything from swimming, football and volleyball to hot dogs, sodas and a brief International Mission’s Society meeting.

One of the best parts of this now annual event is the gathering together of complete families for a memorable occasion.  So we had men, women and children of all ages.  In fact, if you weren’t really careful, many of the younger crew were on the prowl with squirt guns in hand.

Following the numerous conversations and sweaty games, all of the adults circled up for a time of sharing.  Each family introduced themselves and then told of one highlight from the past year or one soon upcoming.  Some mentioned a child headed off to their first pre-teen camp ever.  Others emotionally talked of children heading off to college in the fall.  There was good news of kids studying the Bible and even some sad news of a potential move away on the horizon.

Val Koha, chairman of IMS, read a verse and led some discussion about our upcoming special mission’s contribution.  Val and others have worked tirelessly to assist our brothers and sisters in Europe and communicate with those of us in New England their need for our love, visits and financial help.

The day closed appropriately in prayer.  We thanked a loving Father who has blessed our lives and families and given us a precious calling into the ministry in New England.
