I Told You So

Mark 1:2-3 - It is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way"--"a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.'"

Good morning family! Moving on to verse 2-3, we find Mark quoting three verses from the Old Testament--Exodus 23:20, Malachi 3:1, and Isaiah 40:3.

"It is written in Isaiah the prophet . . ."

It is pretty amazing when you think of all the prophecies that came true with the coming of Christ! What if I told you that tomorrow at 4 pm, someone in a red hat would walk up to you and give you 5 bananas? You smile as you read that, but what if it actually happened?

What if more than 100 times I told you something about the future, and every time it happened exactly like I said? Would you trust me? There is a prophecy that there will be a second exodus, not from Egypt or Rome, but an exodus from this world and from sin. With this combination of prophecies, Mark is announcing that Jesus is the new leader of the Exodus, and the Exodus is about to begin!

Jesus also gave us prophecies for our own lives.  He gave us promises that if we lead our lives in a certain way, we can be sure that God will bless us. Are there any promises from God that you have forgotten, or have been ignoring?

Pick a promise from God, a prophecy of what God will do for you. Memorize and pray for it, and look for God to fulfill his promises in your life!

Pray for Brussels, Belgiumbrussels

Welcome to the capital of Belgium, a city with over 10 million people! Brussels is one of the most international cities in the world. 27% of the population is made up of foreigners, not including those who have taken Belgian citizenship.

In keeping with its status as the Capital of Europe (seat of the European Union), Brussels is the location for 40,000 EU employees, 4,000 NATO employees and hosts about 300 permanent representations: lobby groups, embassies and press corporations.

Please pray for God to strengthen the church, and to bring open hearts in the paths of the disciples. Pray that the spirit will work to build a church that can impact the nation of Belgium!

At this moment we have no full-time leaders in the church, so please pray for God to open a door and to move someone to serve this church full-time. May our 2010 missions contributions enable us to support a full-time couple in this strategic European city!

See you tomorrow . . .
