The second Storrs' church service took place at the Bishop Center on the University of Connecticut campus on Sunday, September 30. The group considering the church planting, scheduled to begin in the fall of 2008, came together to sing, pray, read God's word and eat lots of pizza and salad.
Jamie and Nora Robbins began the worship time with a rousing welcome. Jamie is a U Conn grad and Nora spends much of her time working for the university on assignment. Ryan Tucker then led us in prayer. Prior to praying, Ryan shared a bit of his story. Ryan was baptized at Northwestern University near Chicago. However, by the end of his college days there, Ryan had walked away from God and into sin. He traveled east to get his masters (and ultimately his doctorate) in Storrs, Connecticut. There he was to meet up with disciples again and have his spiritual life reclaimed. He now serves as a deacon in the Hartford church and remembers warmly his U Conn days.
