Going back home for my sisters wedding after 5 years of living in the states brought joy as well as some challenges for me and my wife Nardine.       

I was born in Latvia. My dad was born in Ukraine and moved to Latvia when he was 19 years old. When I was growing up, my dad would go to visit his home country whenever he got an opportunity. And in my "brightest" wisdom at that time I thought to myself "Why Ukraine, why not Spain, Germany, England or some other country in Europe to go on vacation. There's not much to see in Ukraine". Well, guess where I went this past month, not to Spain or Germany, but also to my home country Latvia, which some people don't even know existed, where there's nothing much to see. After not seeing my family for 5 years, it was an incredible joy for us to see each other. A day did not go by while we were there that my mom did not cry (happy tears). My sister is all grown up - became a young beautiful woman. My mom and dad changed over the years as well. As my dad say "Before we were young and beautiful, now we're just beautiful". It was an emotional time not just for them but for us as well.
